Eye examinations & Dispensing
Considered eye care, without haste
We offer comprehensive private eye examinations and dispensing, approached with time, care, and close attention to the individual. Appointments are not constrained by rigid time limits; instead, each examination is allowed to take as long as necessary to be carried out properly.
While most eye examinations take around 30 minutes, additional time is taken whenever required. The emphasis is always on thoroughness rather than speed.
Our practice brings together clinical eye care, specialist optical knowledge, and thoughtful dispensing — treated as a single, considered process rather than a series of separate steps.
The eye examination
Our eye examinations are thorough, detailed, and unhurried, designed to assess both visual performance and eye health in depth.
Each examination is tailored to the individual and may include:
A detailed assessment of vision and refractive needs
Evaluation of eye movements and visual coordination
Assessment of binocular vision and visual comfort
Measurement of eye pressure where clinically appropriate
Examination of the retina to assess the health of the back of the eye
Where appropriate, we offer retinal photography, providing detailed imaging of the retina. These images support diagnosis, assist with monitoring changes over time, and form part of a clear and comprehensive clinical record.
Time is taken to explain findings carefully, discuss any recommendations, and answer questions — ensuring you leave with a clear understanding of both your vision and your eye health.
Contact lens examinations
We offer contact lens examinations, available either as a standalone appointment or combined with a full eye examination.
We work with all types of contact lenses, including:
Daily, fortnightly, and monthly lenses
Soft and rigid gas permeable lenses
Toric lenses for astigmatism
Multifocal contact lenses
Myopia Control
Specialist and bespoke contact lens fittings where required
Each fitting is approached with precision and care, focusing on comfort, ocular health, and long-term wearability. Follow-up appointments are provided where needed to ensure lenses continue to perform as intended.
Dispensing & optical work
Dispensing is a central part of our practice and is approached with the same care, time, and expertise as the eye examination itself.
We hold an extensive eyewear collection, including contemporary independent designs alongside a large and carefully curated vintage selection. With thousands of frames available, our role is not to present endless choice, but to guide the process thoughtfully so the right frame can be identified with confidence.
Frame selection takes into account a range of considerations, including:
Prescription and lens requirements
Facial structure, proportions, and fit
How eyewear will be worn day to day
Practical factors such as occupation, comfort, and durability
Personal style, character, and how an individual wishes to be perceived
Time is taken to understand how eyewear fits into a person’s life — not only functionally, but socially and aesthetically. This allows us to narrow the selection carefully, focusing on frames that feel natural to wear and appropriate to the individual.
The result is eyewear that works well technically, sits comfortably, and feels right. Clients often find that when a frame genuinely suits them, it is something they enjoy wearing every day and feel confident in — an ease that is often reflected in the response they receive from others.
We also offer specialist adjustment, repair, and refurbishment of eyewear and sunglasses, approached with the same care, precision, and judgement as our dispensing work.
This includes detailed frame adjustments and rebalancing, replacement or repair of worn components, and sympathetic refurbishment of well-loved or older frames where appropriate. Each piece is assessed individually, with close attention to material, construction, and long-term wearability.
This is skilled optical work and is not treated as a generic or automated service. Fees are charged according to the nature and extent of the work involved, and we are always happy to discuss what is possible before proceeding.
Appointments
We are a private practice, and appointments are recommended to allow sufficient time for each examination to be carried out properly. Walk-ins are welcome where possible.
