OUR STORY

A CONSIDERED APPROACH TO EYE CARE AND EYEWEAR.

We are an independent opticians grounded in careful observation, technical understanding, and an appreciation of form.

Our work begins with time. Time to understand how someone sees, how eyewear needs to function in daily life, and how it sits within a wider sense of personal style. We believe good eye care and good design are closely linked — both require attention, restraint, and a willingness to look closely.

Good eyewear begins with time, care, and attention to detail

EYE CARE, EYEWEAR, AND MAKING.

As opticians, eye examinations and clinical care form the foundation of our work. From there, dispensing, lens design, and frame selection are approached with the same consideration — balancing visual clarity, physical comfort, and aesthetics.

Alongside this, we design and make bespoke acetate frames in-house, developed around the individual rather than a standardised system. Each piece begins from first principles, allowing form, proportion, and material to be shaped around the wearer — responding to face, visual needs, and personal preference.

Whether working with ready-made eyewear or bespoke pieces, our approach remains consistent: thoughtful, precise, and led by the person rather than the product.

LENSES AS PART OF THE WHOLE.

We see lenses as an integral part of eyewear, not simply a technical requirement. Our Lens Lab brings together a wide range of lens designs, specialist solutions, and custom finishes, selected independently to suit each individual.

From everyday prescriptions to complex visual needs — including myopia control and specialist or technical lenses — decisions are made with long-term comfort and overall coherence in mind. The aesthetic of the finished glasses — lens colour, thickness, and proportion — is considered alongside performance and clarity.

SPECIALIST AND COLLABORATIVE WORK.

We also work closely with costume designers across film, television, and theatre, sourcing, modifying, and creating eyewear that supports character, story, and period. This work demands discretion, flexibility, and an understanding of both visual language and practical on-set requirements.

Whether supporting an individual client or a production team, our role is the same: to solve problems quietly and carefully, allowing eyewear to feel resolved and appropriate without drawing attention to itself.

EXPERIENCE AND PRACTICE.

Our practice is shaped by extensive clinical and technical experience.

Eye examinations and clinical care are led by an optometrist with a background in pharmacology research and published academic work, alongside seventeen years’ experience at Moorfields Eye Hospital and within independent practice.

Dispensing, fitting, and technical work are led by an expert craftsman with over thirty years’ experience in the eyewear industry, spanning specialist lenses, complex prescriptions, and detailed frame construction.

Together, this combination of clinical knowledge and hands-on technical skill allows us to support a wide range of visual needs — from straightforward eye care to complex problem-solving — with confidence, care, and close attention to detail.

A SLOWER, MORE CONSIDERED PRACTICE.

Our practice is intentionally unhurried. Appointments are designed to allow space for discussion, testing, and careful decision-making. We believe eyewear works best when there is time to understand both visual needs and the person behind them.

This approach shapes everything we do — from clinical care to bespoke making — and reflects our belief that good eyewear is the result of patience, skill, and close attention to detail.
